Today I’d like to talk a little about a concept in the PUA community called social proof. When you are out with a girl she will look for how you interact with other people. People and women in particular are sensitive to how others respond to you. If other people respond well she will feel more positive about you. After all, everyone is influenced by what everyone else thinks and how they behave.
When you are out on a date with a girl you must make sure you look for opportunities to show you are good at interacting with other people. If you can get positive reactions from other people she will like you more.
How to Build Social Proof
If you are in a bar or a restaurant have some small talk with the bar staff, doormen and waiters. Be open, engaging and try to get into a conversation. If you are out in a bar then engage other couples or groups of people around you. If you are in a bookshop, engage the guy that is helping people to find books. Here’s how you could do it if you’re on a date in a bar and there is a group of standing next to you:
You: Hey guys, what cocktails have you got there? They look really good.
Group Member 1: I have a got a Flaming Pineapple. It’s unique to this bar and it’s bloody good!
You: Cool- the flames and the pineapple look like an odd mixture. What does it taste like?
Group Member 1: ha ha no it’s actually really sweet- like a hot pineapple.
You: Cool! That’s really reassuring! What’s that green concoction? It looks like a prop from Lord of the Rings.
Group Member 2: Erm it’s called a Minty Twist. It has a menthol taste. Probably good if you have a cold!
You: Right, I think I’m a pineapple man <turning to your date> what do you think?
Your Date: Well I certainly don’t fancy the minty one!
The conversation is very simple, friendly and easy but that doesn’t make the social proof any less effective. If you can engage and carry a conversation with another group she will be impressed.
